das oben is die Lichtmaschine, welche wohl aus Gewichtsgründen nach hinten "gewandert" ist. Wenn Du das meinst.
Der Audi welcher in Nardo eingesetzt wurde, war/ist aber einer mit geraden Radläufen !.

Oh man, einen gecrashten Imsa 90er zu sehen ist schon ein wenig hart.

Interessant ist der verbreiterte 200er welcher eindeutig im Automuseum Wolfsburg abgelichtet wurde. Habe ich dort während meiner Besuche nie zu sehen bekommen.

That is the communication antenna to the pit crew in the 200 TA. Why not mount it on the roof, two reasons; one drag, second it does not look cool . Or are you talking about the alternator that is run off the drive shaft?

The black "200" is the car that broke the Talladega speed record on March 24, 1986. 206.825 mph (332.853 km/h). It was all for a marketing campaign for Audi to sell the 200 as the Audi 5000 CS Turbo Quattro in the USA and Canada.

The following year on April 30, 1987: Bill Elliott sets the all-time NASCAR qualifying record, winning the pole for the Winston 500 at a speed of 212.809 mph (342.483 km/h) (44.998 seconds). This broke the record of the Audi.

It´s the alternator that has been moved to the rear, probably due to weight balance reasons.
The Nardo car came with flat fenders (in opposite to the Telladega car)

OMG, seeing a crashed 90 IMSA is a bit painful

That wide body 200, which is definitely filmed at the Wolfsburg Automuseum, is pretty interesting.
I never had the chance to see it during my visit there.

Those pics and cars are all awesome - each of them in it´s own way - but the 200 TA is my absolute favourite.

BTW:
Did you guys know, why Audi used Kevlar for the timing belt cover and radiator fan housing?

Simply because the OE sheet metal pieces couldn´t handle the stress and force acting on them during race and rally conditions.
With the Rally quattro, the sheet metal radiator fan housings broke and so they went to a far more superior material.

The turbo pressure pipes and intake tubes on the Rally quattros were made of some Kevlar/Carbon (or Carbon only fabric) composite material (or and laminated over some sort of plaster core, that could easily be destroyed afterwards by the use of water.
Advantage: Carbon gives a much smoother inner surface and could be formed to almost any shape, compared to steel/alu tubing.

Does anyone know where the Talladega 200 is these days. Did Audi sell it to a private collector or did they scrap it for insurance reasons?

From the White "paco rabanne" Racecar there were several times some Bodyparts on ebay.
