Any megasquirters in Germany ?

Beitrag von Johan »

Hi,

just wondering if there are any megasquirters in germany..? or what kind of engine control systems do you juse (motec, 034efi, etc.) for your boosted engines ? :-D ....just don`t say, that you all are still runing on CIS .. :D

I have KG engine in my typ89 A90, controlled by megasquirt with coil on plug system, 3B injectors ect.

ps. by the way do you guys have any ignition maps of "non stock" 10V engines..?

Johan,

most updated 10VTs still run with CIS in place and this works fine up to ~ 230hp & 380-400NM of torque.

Karl S. is recently doing a Motronic conversion on his MC-2, but still no Megasquirt or 034 EFI.

And there´s another guy here going EFI - we may wait for their results and then probably more people will think about converting.

Looking for a 10VT non-stock map... go to motorgeek.com and brouwse tru the "abnormally aspirated" forum - you´ll find one...

Cheers,
Olli

verdammt, sie sind verrückt! :-D we have a very bad experience with CIS - 1,5BAR(or a bit more) of boost on typ44 (MC-1 engine), running away from police on motorway... :-D ..we did get away, but after 5km engine broke down..pistons were melt...  engine was running lean, in spite of our tryings to make it run more rich....but it was worth it..

ps thanks for your advice Olli ;)

Ok, Johan - 1.5bar is no good - you´re completely topping out the K24 compressor map on higher RPMs - BTDT.

My CEL light comes on a few times if going beyond 1.5bar, so i backed it up to 1.2-1.4bar - good to have a final warning this way.

1.3 is still in the safe range for the CIS, if all injectors & stuff work properly.
I´ve added a second fuel pump relay next to the pump and get 13.7V instead of 12, so the delivery rate increases as well.
Next thing will be a DIY 2.5" DP made of 304SS (if i can find enough free time within the next weeks or so).

Agreed, the CIS wil reach it´s limits at 1.5, but the K24 turbo too.

Cheers,
Olli

..well..if you say so.. But still i can`t believe, that in such big state there are no squirters..  :-)

every third typ85 with MC or KG engine is megasquirted here, in Latvia.. :-) ...and CIS systems are daying one after another  ...i think because of "good" fuel, that we have here.. :D

speaking of melted piston car - it had kkk-26 compressor ;) damn it accelerated good!

I think, one reason why there are so few EFI conversions around is that it´s not popular here, unless some folks did it successfully.

I for myself, never had a serious problem with the CIS - car starts well on the first turn, smooth idle & warm up operation, no big failures within the last 10 years.
I did some new injectors some 5 years ago and a new fuel pump with relay in 2005 - that´s it.
Other things, like fuel & air filter , sparkplugs, etc - all on a regular basis.

And yes, we have some 98-100RON fuel here, that is used by most MC-updaters - 95 ist the absolute min for a car like that.

If my CIS breaks down, i´ll go EFI anyway, but who to ask for the ECU-mapping?

1.5bar experience makes fun - i had mine too :)

60-100 within 5sec in 4th gear
120-210 in 5th gear faster than a Porsche Cayenne S
