Hi robbe1960,

I do not have any expereance with weel bearings from EBAY. If you could check the brand of the item semthelf, I could give you a hint. But if this is produced by a non known company you should by it from your dealer.

If you find out that they are produced by exampel: SKF, FAG, INA Timken, NSK, NTN it should be OK.

Whatever it is, Optimal KG, I am very skeptical a) at this price and b) that one size fits "all" from 100 to V8 to A6.

I only know that type 44 Sport has much bigger and of course more expensive* wheel bearings than other type 44s. So it can't be. In the ebay details they have listed all fitting original part numbers. So you have to be sure first, which number you have and whether it fits.
* A few years ago I paid about 75 Euros + VAT per piece and it was not even Audi price.

Regards,
Manfred

Coz i am putting the suspension from the V8, i don't know wich radlagers are used, i use the suspension from v8 , coz in belgium it's forbidden to use spacers to get the wheels more out , in the wheelarch.
Difference between the original nf and v8 is almost 2 cm every side,

Hi,

Optimal is defiantly not producing the items. It’s like a dealer. My be he buy the bearings and other parts and pack them into a box. I don’t know. But They are not producing hub bearings.

Regards

Mathias

P.S.: I'm working for one of the biggest bearing manufactorer. Which are never produced HUB units for our car's (only sampel's :D )

Hi Rob,

I believe this was the secure decission! Did you would mount it by your self? If I have to do it, I almost frosen the bearing, than it is much easyer to mount. The cooling down is no problem for the bearing material, greas and sealings.

I hope all will be nice.

That means quite fun...

Hi Robbe,

I'm not sure if you have expereance, but I have mad this very bad expereance some years ago. I try to mount it with a big mounting tool (Oh shit I forget the english expression). So I push the bearing over the outerring into the housing. It was very tight. After 10 to 15 mm sliding, it stick in the housing. Than we use more havy tools to give higher pressure to the outerring. Than the item moves in one step aditional 15 to 20 mm. But this pressure from the outerring fitting was so high, that the two part (splittet innerring) was dismounted (jump out of the bearing). So this bearing was defnetly brocken and I have to spend again money for a new one.

Thins this time I always put the item into a freg and cool it down. For the mounting I use a pezial very thin oil at the outerring surface.

So I wish you a lot of fun.

Mathias
